What does Invisalign have to do with dental implants? How do they work together? Is there a benefit to using them together?

Check out my short educational video on the benefits of Invisalign and dental implant treatment.

Dental implants are permanent restorations that replace missing teeth – they look, feel and function like natural teeth.

Invisalign is a nearly invisible clear aligner system that straightens your teeth just like braces, but without the metal wires and brackets.

I call Invisalign my “hobby” and have a lot of fun treating patients with it. I’m an Elite Invisalign Provider which is among the top providers in North America. This means that you’ll receive the highest clinical skill level when you’re treated in our practice.

Benefits of Invisalign and Dental Implants

When I place dental implants, one of the most important things is putting them in the right space in the jaw. Sometimes when people have crooked teeth, the roots of their teeth can be in a bad place for where I need to place the implant.

Also, if a patient waits too long to get their dental implant, the surrounding teeth might shift into the open space making it difficult to place the dental implant.

The best scenario for long term stability of dental implants is to get all the teeth in the right position so they function properly. This improves the longevity of not only the dental implant, but also the rest of the teeth.

Who is an Invisalign Candidate?

Who is eligible for Invisalign treatment? I see primarily adults in my practice, and more adults than ever are taking advantage of Invisalign therapy to improve their oral health.

When we get into our late 30’s and 40’s, our lower teeth become more visible. They also start to shift and get more crowded.

When the teeth start to rotate, it affects their functionality. They start to chip on the edges, it doesn’t look great either. It can also affect your gum health because you can’t clean your teeth properly. This can cause tarter build up, bad breath, and gum disease.

With all of the ramifications of teeth shifting, clear aligners are a simple solution for patients to move their teeth back into the right position. This improves overall oral health, bite function and helps patients keep their teeth for the rest of their life.
